The coordinator deleted the folder a subagent was converting
While four subagents converted lessons, the coordinator committed the deletion of the folder one of them was reading from.
- Problem
- A coordinator agent changed or deleted files that a running subagent was told to read.
- Approach
- Four subagents converted lessons in parallel while the coordinator ran git rm -r on the folder they read from. One subagent recovered the sources from the earlier commit with git archive and finished.
- Outcome
- solved
- Conditions
- Four parallel subagents converting namaq lessons to MDX from one live checkout while the coordinator edited the same checkout.
- Evidence
- namaq commit 773a035d removing docs/lessons/; subagent report of reading from git archive 607669f6
- Implication
- Hand a subagent a snapshot (a commit hash or a scratchpad copy), and do not delete or move anything a running subagent was told to read.

Four subagents converted namaq's lessons to MDX in parallel, each told to read the old HTML from
namaq's docs/lessons/. While they ran, the coordinator moved on to the namaq half of the move and
ran git rm -r docs/lessons in the same checkout. One subagent found its sources gone halfway through
lesson 0001. It recovered them from the commit before the deletion with git archive and finished, and
the text-parity check later showed nothing lost. A less careful agent would have reported "files not
found" or, worse, converted from memory.
Evidence: namaq commit 773a035d removing docs/lessons/, made while the text-to-evidence
conversion was still running; that subagent's report of reading from git archive 607669f6.
Implications: a delegated task's inputs are frozen until it reports back. Hand a subagent a snapshot (a commit hash, or a copy in the scratchpad), not a live path in a checkout someone else is editing, and do not delete or move anything a running subagent was told to read.
